Geeking the kid

thette introduced her to Doctor Who, and for the last year she has become quite the fan of Avengers and superhero movies (though she doesn't like the origin stories).
But last week I thought it was time to introduce her properly to written science fiction, and we've started with Disch's _The Brave Little Toaster_ (in Swedish translation) as bedtime reading. She's thinking it's great so far, only trouble is that the sentence structure isn't really suited to reading aloud at times.
We will have to decide on what to continue with next. Something from Vance's _The Dying Earth_? (Though I have little hope of good Swedish translations there.) Any ideas?
