A Grand Tour

kjnA gentleman, two of his friends, and his faithful manservant set out to visit unknown lands. Once they've reached a border town just outside familiar country, they secure the services of a reliable guide.
After several adventures and the beginning of an education in classical history, they reach a safe place to stay for some months, where they can rest, make plans for the further journey, admire many valuable artifacts, and consult with wise men. They also gather the help of several more companions.
When they set out again, an attempt to cross a mountain chain turns into a disaster, and they lose one of their companions. However, the rest of the party do manage to reach another safe place where they can rest, make plans for the further journey, admire many valuable artifacts, and consult with a wise woman.
Provided with many gifts, the party set out again, but a quarrel over their next destination breaks out. The gentleman and his faithful manservant leaves in disgust, but without a reliable guide they soon get lost in a marsh. Luckily, they do manage to secure the services of another guide there, though one far less reliable.
After crossing another mountain chain and a desolate area, our gentleman manages to reach the volcano he had expressed interest in, which promptly erupts. However, they are rescued in the nick of time, and brought back to another safe place, where all their earlier companions has spent some time already. After some time, the original four companions return home, bringing back much learning and knowledge.
