Uncleftish Beholding
Mar. 12th, 2015 11:02 amI'm taking a course in English at the local university right now. Right now we're on English literature (including some movies) and language proficiency. Last Monday, we got the instructions for the graded oral presentation we were supposed to give in two weeks' time, talking for 5-7 minutes about a magazine or newspaper article, covering both its content and give some commentary on its linguistic or stylistic content.
Except that I'm away on Ireland for four weeks, starting next week. So I did the presentation yesterday. Luckily, I had started laughing as soon as I heard the requirement of having to say something in the presentation about linguistics: I'd talk about "Uncleftish Beholding" by Poul Anderson.
At least the teacher seemed amused, and the other students not too confused. Given the extremely short preparation I had, I was pretty happy with it.
