I think part of the reason might be that the Anna Lovinda tune is in an unfamiliar mode/style to most filkers, and when sung in English has to compete with Anne Passovoy's tune, which they know very well.
But I grew up with the tradition that Anna Lovinda is written in, which helps with the first, and by singing it in Norwegian I do an end-run around having constant - conscious or unconscious - comparisons with Passovoy's tune.
