The filk I will never write
Feb. 18th, 2015 10:20 pmSometime you encounter a song that you know directly that you will need to filk. Or it has a nice couple lines that would just be a perfect base for a filk song.
The Swedish early 90s song Jag mötte Lassie just sounded perfect for that, with the singer seeing Cthulhu ("Jag såg Cthulhu") instead of meeting a nice and friendly dog. With music by Benny Andersson, for bonus ABBA-Cthulhu crossover.
But then I really listened to the rest of the lyrics. It's about a four-year-old abused child with no friend in the world until he/she meets the dog. There's ose, but that one would just be too much.
On a happier note, does filk fandom need Mary O'Meara not only to the original tune, but in Norwegian as well?
