Advantages to small-town life

kjnDay before yesterday (ie Thursday) we visited the nearby appliance store just before closing time, to buy a new washing machine and dryer (the ones in the house when we bought it were quite old and tired - especially the dryer was ancient). They had a nice sale on decent Whirlpool machines, and we enquired into delivery, installation and handling of the old machines.
The guy in the store said, almost apologetically, that he had to make the delivery Friday mid-morning, otherwise we had to wait until Monday. In Stockholm, we had to wait over a week for delivery.
