Date: 2017-03-06 08:25 pm (UTC)I was just baffled whether there was something additional that joins these 20 books together, since they are from different eras, different genres, possibly even age groups, part of series and so on. It feels a bit like a list from a "Recommended Books" discussion at Åcon, compiled by a panel of somewhat different readers. (Which gives me an idea for Åcon 9 Recommended Books discussion group subject!)

Date: 2017-03-06 08:38 pm (UTC)I don't know Nicoll and only occasionally check up on LJ, since there are couple of people left that keep on using it as their preferred mode of communication. Like your good self.
This has given me a good ideas for next Åcon and a welcome brain wrestle. So thanks to you and Mr. Nicoll!

Date: 2017-03-08 05:51 am (UTC)I've seen a filk song based on Ancillary Justice, and Gary's filkindex gives me also two based on Gate of Ivrel and Frankenstein. Bit further than that, I don't know, but I'm sure there is several more.

Date: 2017-03-08 12:54 pm (UTC)Heather Alexander's whole album "Songsmith" is based on that Andre Norton novel.
Semi-local filker Teri Wachowiak [a Goh at the Uk Filkcon, her concert there was on filkarchive] has some songs based on Le Guin's Earthsea series.
I know I've heard songs about Jirel, Frankenstein, and Madeleine L'Engle [although not altogether--want to write one? ;)], but can't remember by whom or when right offhand.
